Jorge Maria O'Neill

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dr. Jorge Maria O'Neill (Lisbon, November 7, 1908 – after 1997) was the head of one of the Irish Royal Families, the Clanaboy O'Neill dynasty, which has resided in Portugal since the 18th century. He was officially recognized by the heraldic societies throughout Europe as titular Prince and Count of Clanaboy,[citation needed] but has refused to use the title, preferring instead the style O'Neill of Clannaboy. He was the first son of the previous head Hugo O'Neill and his wife Dona Júlia Margarida Catarina de Serpa Pimentel de Sousa Coutinho, herself a descendant of the Dukes of Braganza and King John I of Portugal.[citation needed]
