Jorge González is the former lead singer, bassist and main songwriter of the Chilean band Los Prisioneros. As the undisputed leader of Los Prisioneros, the band followed in his direction which in the later era of Los Prisioneros, would cause a ripple with him and the lead guitarist Claudio Narea. They disbanded in 1989, but resumed work and an album until 1992 in which the band completely dissolved.

After Los Prisioneros disbanded in 1992, he went on to begin a solo career. His first album self titled was released in 1993 and received mixed reviews but was successful for some time. His second album, El Futuro Se Fue was a disappointing release and did poorly in the charts. The album was a stripped down version of González's music, music that was created exactly the same way as his first solo album, except almost all the instrumentation was played and recorded by him, giving the album a small sound, more of a trio compared to his first solo album (which was recorded lavishly with various studio musicians and with production from Gustavo Santaolalla). In present day, the album is seen on a much more positive light than when it was released. The album is currently out of print. In 1999, Jorge put out his final solo album until he reunited with Los Prisioneros in 2001, the album was "Mi Destino: Confesiones de una estrella de rock". The album was received a lot more positively than "El Futuro Se Fue". The first single for the album was "Me Pagan Por Rebelde". After doing some promoting for the album, Los Prisioneros reunited only at least a year after Jorge's last solo album.

In 2001, the band reunited with Claudio, but it proved to be a short stint, he was kicked out/left the band in september of 2003. The band continued without him until they finally ended the band in march of 2006.

As of summer of 2006, Jorge Gonzalez has done a lot of live shows working with electronic dance music and has worked with many known musicians in the electronic music scene, to name one, Sussie 4. Since he now lives in Mexico with his family he is able to work easily along fellow electronic music composers. He has said at the moment he doesn't see himself putting out a new solo album, but that he is working on music since Los Prisioneros broke up as he said "Not working on any new music starts to kill me" (during a recent interview with Rolling Stone Chile).

His new group, called Los Updates are Jorge González and Loreto Otero. Mainly González is creating music, sampling various songs, and hinted to be using Ableton Live (at least for some songs). The new group is focusing on more minimal dance oriented music compared to his electronic rock outfit with Los Prisioneros and his solo albums.
