Jordi Codina

Jordi Codina Rodríguez, Codina (born April 27, 1982 in Barcelona), is a footballer for Real Madrid, who plays as a goalkeeper.

Codina is a graduate of Real Madrid's youth system, but arrived at Real Madrid Castilla from the low categories of RCD Espanyol of Barcelona, joining in 2002. After the departure of Carlos Sánchez and David Cobeño he became the first-choice goalkeeper of Real's reserve side. Antonio Adán was the backup and Kiko Casilla the third-choice. Codina eventually gained Castilla's captaincy.

Codina debuted in Segunda División in the 2005-06 season, against Sporting Gijón. In the last of his five years with the B team, he played in 35 of 38 matches for a total of 3061 minutes. At the start of 2007-08, he was promoted to Real Madrid first team and his now the third goalkeeper, after Iker Casillas and Jerzy Dudek. As Madrid were already crowned league champions, Codina debuted with the first team on May 11, 2008, in a 5-2 home win against Levante UD, playing the entire match.
