Jordan, represented by Jordan Radio and Television, has been a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) since 1969. They have broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest many times but have never entered.

In 1978, Jordanian Television refused to broadcast Israel's entry. So while it was being performed Jordanian viewers were shown a picture of flowers instead. When the voting was going on and it was seen that Israel was going to win, JRTV cut the transmission of the show all together. It instead showed the American show, Bronk.

A similar issue happened in 1981. JRTV refused to acknowledge Israel altogether and this time when the song was being performed, Jordanians were shown commercials. The voting was completely cut as the scoreboard showed the name of Israel.
