Jordan Meats was a meat packer in Portland, Maine.
The processor was one of the companies of Corporate Brand Foods America, purchased in 1997 by George N. Gillett Jr., then by Iowa Beef Processors (IBP) in 1998. Tyson Foods acquired IBP in 2001 and closed the Jordan's Meats operation on February 1, 2005.[1] There were 285 employees at the plant and distribution center when it closed.[1]
In 2006, Money Magazine listed Portland as 89th in its list of the 100 best places to live, but it also included "Jordan's Meats" as one of the biggest employers in the area, with "500 employees".[2] In 2007, Portland was not in Money Magazine's top 100 list.[3]
