David Starr Jordan High School (usually referred to as Jordan High School) A part of the Long Beach Unified School District and accredited by Western Association for Schools and Colleges through 2013. Jordan High School is a public secondary school located in Long Beach, California. The school serves students mainly from North Long Beach, a number of students also come from east and west Long Beach, and parts of Compton.
Jordan High School comprises two campuses, the main campus is located in 6500 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach California 90805, the main campus serves students from grades 10-12, although there are select 9th graders accepted in the campus as part of the ELD (English Learning Development) program, AIMS program and other programs they enroll into.
The other campus is known as the Jordan Freshman academy and was constructed 2001 which serves primarily the incoming 9th grade students. The ninth grade campus, referred to as "The Freshman Academy" or "Baby Jordan" by students, is located at the site of the old Dominguez Mercy Hospital at 171 W. Bort Street, Long Beach, CA 90805.
The school's colors are royal blue and white, the mascot is a Panther, and the year book is the Trailblazer.

The Aspirations in Medical Services (AIMS) Jordan High School has a medical program that prepares students for entry-level careers in medicine and related fields. AIMS blends academics with on-site fuekd experience at local hospitals and medical facilities. This integrated program perpares students for both colleges, universities and for the world of work in the medical field. Students are required to serve hundreds of hours of worth of community service to local hospitals and health care facilities as part of the requirement.
Business and Entertainment School of Travel, Trade and Tourism (BESTT) Jordan's Business and Entertainment School of Travel, Trade and Tourism program is especially made to empower students to prepare for life beyond high school - college or a career by offering rigorous courses, These courses focus on global travel and tourism in the areas of Computer Literacy, Finance, Accounting, Sales/Marketing, and Hospitality Management, BESTT provides students with opportunities to grow academically and socially.
Excellence Through the Arts (ETA) The program was established in 2007. The Excellence Through the Arts program has provided artistic and creative students a place to belong. This small learning community offers students a community of teachers, students, and staff who will support them in their artistic features. This program offers guest speakers, field trips, and internships. E.T.A. students all have talent in art, dancing,drama, music and a promising future.
International Baccalaureate (IB) International Baccalaurate (I.B.) is a thought provoking program and skills required to obtain their highest academic potential. Students learn how to prepare themselves and face challenges and obstacles of the outside world. With the support of all the teachers from day one, students are able to achieve success and be ready for life after high school.
Jordan's Media and Communication (JMAC) Jordan's Media and Communication small learning community prepares student's for success in the 21st century. Students are able to train in technical as well as academic skills. students learn how to use the latest technology in graphic design, publishing, and video production and are also given the opportunity to take college preparatory classes.
Panther Academy (PA) In this four-year program, students are able to explore their interest through elective courses while still addressing their core requirements for high school and college. Panther Academy students are provided with a small learningh community that promotes success and lifelong learning. These students are provided with opportunities such as AP/Honors Classes, Avid Strategies, field trips, guest speakers, individual counseling, after school tutoring, and very dedicated teachers.

Jordan belongs in CIF-SS Div I in Basketball, Football and Baseball. The school also competes in sports such as Track, Cross Country, Softball, Swimming Water Polo, Tennis, Badminton, Soccer, Volleyball, Cross Country, Softball, Golf, and Wrestling.
Basketball Jordan's Basketball team led by Head Coach Ron Massey and Assistant Joel Rosborough. Since the arrival of Coach Massey in 1982 Jordan's Basketball team has been a perennial powerhouse in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 having won multiple Division 1 championships in 1992 and 1995 and more. Jordan's latest championships appearance was in 2006 when they were division one runner up when they played Los Alamitos for CIF-SS Div IAA Championship at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim. In 2007 playoffs Jordan was the closest school to come within 10 points falling short to Artesia High School who would then go on to win the Division 1 State Championship.
Football Jordan's Football was also a perennial power until the year 2003 after the firing of Coach Guillory. Currently the team is undergoing major rebuilding Led by Head Coach Scott Myers and second year Offensive Coordinator Thomas Barnes, Lineman Coach Andy Lane, along with a young talented team to catapult Jordan back into a football powerhouse that it once was.
Baseball The Jordan Baseball Team has been a very good lead by coach Mark Prager. The Jordan Baseball team is being recognized as a powerhouse in the diamond and next year the team has high hopes. To many people Jordan's rival in baseball is considered to be Lakewood.
