Jordan Galland is an independent filmmaker who lives and works in New York City [1]. His first motion picture project was a screen adaptation of Ryu Murakami's cult novel, Coin Locker Babies, begun in 1998,in collaboration with Michele Civetta, Peter Kline and Sean Lennon [2][3][4].

His second work, a surrealistic short thriller,Smile for the Camera, received an award for best screencraft at the New York Independent International Film and Video Festival in 2005 [5]. Galland directed, photographed, and edited the film himself, and wrote the film’s theme song and musical score with Lennon and Timo Ellis, long-time friends and collaborators. Galland’s third project, Green Umbrella[6], an animated short film [7], was an official selection at thirteen film festivals throughout the United States and was shown by invitation at ALCINE (Madrid) in November, 2007. [8]

Born in Farmington, Connecticut, Galland was raised in New York City and graduated in 2002 from New York University (NYU), where he studied film, animation and mythology.

In addition to his work in film, Galland has received recognition as a writer and composer. His original play, F.A.M.I.L.Y, written at the age of thirteen, was a finalist at the Young Playwrights’ Competition in 1993.

At eighteen, Galland formed the underground, independent rock band DopoYume [9], which toured the U.S. and played shows with Rufus Wainwright, Cibo Matto and Phantom Planet. As a composer and musician, he has collaborated with Mark Ronson, Fischerspooner[10], and Sean Lennon [11], and opened for Lily Allen[12] during her U.S. tour in 2006. His song, “Everyone Else Is Boring” was featured in Diane von Furstenberg’s runway show during New York Fashion Week, 2007 [13] and was released by Ronson's Allido Records as the title song of an EP featuring Galland’s music [14]. Galland’s songs have been heard in numerous films and TV shows.
