Talk:Jophiel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I've made quite a few upgrades to the page however I don't by any means consider myself an expert on this subject. It needs 'lots' of citations and references which is doesn't have. If you look at the history you will see I removed a few references, this is correct those reference dont have anything to do with confirming the contents of the article. Couple of other comments "Prince of Divine Presence" theirs more than one, which is why I say 'A' Prince of Divine Presence. Another thing that bothers me is Zophiel (possible fallen angel), Jophiel and Yofiel are all listed as the same entity. There does seem to me many similarites between them and lots of the content I've found groups them together. -- Shimirel (Talk) 00:09, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Jophiel and Yofiel are the same word in Hebrew; there's no "J," so Jophiel is just technically a modernized transliteration of the name. Zophiel appears to be an alternate pronunciation, which is quite common when dealing with names in ancient texts. Also quite common are different texts using the same names to describe different beings, hence the variety of actions, attributes and even personalities ascribed to the same angel. The best we can do is simply say, "According to this source, the subject is like X, but according to that source, the subject is like Y." We can accurately reflect the controversies, and divergent views, as long as we provide the origin of the viewpoint. ◄Zahakiel► 03:54, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] There is no cabal.
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but is it not supposed to say "kabbalistic" on that section header and in the last paragraph of that section? Rather than "cabalistic", I mean. - Zeibura ( talk ) 01:10, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
