[edit] `Smuggling in Nador
Hi,
I saw you removed my notes on smuggling in Nador. If I remember correctly I had ritten that smuggling goods from Europe via the enclave of Mellilia takes place and that historicaly Nador was known as a smuggling haven. It was at least not my intention to state that Nador is currently a smugglers heaven although smuggling does take place (and on quite a large scale as well). I am not referring to smuggling of drugs but mainly the smuggling of normal (and most times used) goods from Europe to Morocco (without paying any taxes or duties) and also petrol and diesel from Algeria to Morocco (although that is not directly related to Nador: that happens in all Eastern part of Morocco and the petrol "imported" from Algeria is also sold in Nador.
I shall re-phrase the text and add in in the near future.

- I re-wrote the bit about smuggling in Nador and inserted two external sources. You may think it is an unfair description of Nador, but smuggling IS an important economical factor for the city. If you don't want to believe me I advice you never to cross the main road between Nador and Melillia as you'll probably be hit by a car speeding through and beyond the police-checks on their way from Melilia and the city...... I've spent aprox. 8 weeks there and spent quite some time in a cafe along the road used by the tradesmen : you can't miss the fact that they are smuggling goods.
- Also: I don't describe this smuggling as a negative activity: it just happens and I pesonally don't mind it at all. --JanT (talk) 05:59, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
