Jonas Bæk (born Jonas Bæk Kristesen, June 19, 1978 - Vallensbæk, Denmark) Danish reggae enthusiast and freelance journalist. Also known under the names Free I.
Jonas is a young Reggae/Dancehall enthusiast based in Copenhagen, Denmark - where he has been a catalyst for the spreading of the Jamaican music in Denmark for more than 10 years. He has been listening to Reggae on a full scale since the age of 14 - but has been in touch with the music since the age of six.
Jonas is an autodidact text-writer inspired by his uncle Henrik Bæk, and has been doing reviews for Wicked Act (NJ, USA) and Soundvenue (Denmark) among others. In the mid-1990s Jonas ran the bi-monthly Reggae radio show Cool Runnings and the first Danish Reggae e-zine. Today Jonas runs the Copenhagen based sound system Rude Star Hi-Fi besides reggaeXplosion.
Jonas’s speciality is new Dancehall from 1999-present, but has a broad knowledge from Dancehall music from 1992 until yesterday.
