Jones Very was born in 1813 in Salem, Massachusetts to Captain Jones Very and his first cousin Lydia Very. Many of his work was about his father at sea, or about nature. He published one small volume, Essays and Poems, the latter chiefly in the form of the Shakespearian sonnet. He died in 1880.
