[edit] Renaming article

I was going to go ahead and rename the article to be Jonathan Rodríguez (basketball) with the accent but I thought I should ask first just to see if you agreed and to also make sure there aren't too many double redirects caused by the rename, which you may know of. ~RayLast «Talk!» 21:34, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Stop changing the spelling

User:Caribbean H.Q. and User:Mistman123 insist on changing the spelling of this person to one contrary to that given in the cited sources.

Jonathan Rodriguez is his name; that is what he is known by. If you can provide some documentation that his name is ever spelled Rodríguez, then we can at least include it as an alternative. There is, however, absolutely nothing of the sort at this time. But it doesn't belong as the normal spelling unless that is what is normally used. Gene Nygaard (talk) 23:47, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Accent Inclusion

Gramatical correctness is not dependent on the source. The incumbent was born in Puerto Rico, has a Spanish last name, and the orthography of the Spanish language indicates that the last name Rodríguez requires an accent on the vocal of the tonic syllable. The sources from www.gocamels.com that Gene Nygaard indicates also state the following:

Rodriguez’ Details
Full Name: Jonathan John Rodriguez
Birthplace: Bayamon, Puerto Rico
Parents’ Names: Milagros Leon and Victor Rodriguez

This indicates that the aforementioned source is clearly not using accents anywhere, since the correct spellings would be Rodríguez, Bayamón, Puerto Rico, León, and Víctor. An editor's ignorance on gramatical rules of a language is not a justifiable reason to revert edits. ~RayLast «Talk!» 00:22, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Support

  1. Support - Rodríguez requires an accent on the "i" as per the Spanish language orthography. ~RayLast «Talk!» 00:22, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
