Can someone provide evidence that Guinness was misquoted - or even that he claimed he was misquoted - about the razor blades thing? All the sources I have seen suggest that the less charitable story is the indisputed truth. --SandyDancer 13:40, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

I vaguely recall him giving an interview about the by-election to the Mail about ten years ago. He said he was trying to regain momentum (a lot of normal Conservative voters were going to vote for Dick Taverne) so I wouldn't be surprised if he meant it. I think it quite right to question the explanation given. Why he he so concerned about facial hair on felons? It sounds like a pathetic attempt at covering his tracks.
