Talk:Jonah Kūhiō Kalaniana'ole

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

per Wikipedia´s own rules of naming royalty, this heading needs to be changed. Antares911 23:59, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Certainly not. Unnecessary titularies should be avoided in headings. 217.140.193.123 30 June 2005 19:36 (UTC)

[edit] moves

The notorious Antares911/Gryffindor had requested that Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole be moved to either Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole, Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole, Prince of Hawai'i, or Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole of Hawai'i. I among others oppose such moves. As can be read above, the requests received opposition and the poll went stale. Requests denied. Arrigo 12:44, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

Please check Punahou School (aka Oahu College) and Royal School being synonymous. I do not believe they are. Aloysius Patacsil 00:05, Sep 20, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Executed for treason?

Was anyone actually executed for treason for involvement in the 1895 revolution? Who? Sources? --IslandGyrl 10:11, 3 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Not enough info

It did not talk about him being adopted by Kalakaua and his wife or explain other important details of his early life.

In honor of Kuhio day I've added some more information to this page. Rex 20:52, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Member of Congress

Surely Prince Kuhio must have been a delegate (similar to a congressman except unable to vote on the floor of the House of Representatives), since Hawaii wasn't a state until 1959. The US Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa and District of Columbia have delegates and Puerto Rico a resident commissioner.--Syd Henderson 06:00, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

Yes, Kuhio served as a delegate in Congress. As such, he was a non-voting member of congress. --JereKrischel 19:20, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] State Holiday

I would like to see someone add to this article that Hawai'i has an official state holiday each year to celebrate Prince Jonah Kuhio, which is today. And there should be a Category for Hawai'ian holidays, with this article as a member. David 21:25, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
