[edit] Removal of text

I removed this text:

In the area of empowerment through stimulating the imagination and exploring the individual's creativity, he regularly organizes workshops. He attempts to open up people's frame of mind to the idea that the elites and the advent of civilization have molded our ideosphere into somewhat of a straightjacket, alienating us from such concepts as immortality, alternative dimensions and magic (creating manifest reality from thought), which Rappoport asserts are all part of our developmental heritage, but which have been usurped from us in order to render us subserviant to the rulers and accepting their narrative of who we are on face value.

User:meco reverted me, calling my action a "POV edit." I am really quite amused. I considered my edit a removal of POV. The wording is so biased in Rappoport's favor as to resemble a direct quote. If it is a direct quote, it should be cited; if not, it has no place here. Deltabeignet (talk) 03:09, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

I have once again reverted you. The fact that you consider yourself amused does not give you right. The passage is not a direct quote, but a considered overview of Rappoport's activities based on material published on his own site. You can also check out the quotes at Wikiquote if you have some reason to believe that this is a misrepresentation of Jon Rappoport's agenda and activities. If you insist that the text which you removed is POV, would you be so generous as to elaborate on exactly what statements you consider POV? Again, if it is Rappoport's point of view you wish to expunge, you are completely mistaken as to what our NPOV obligations encompass. __meco (talk) 08:15, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
The aforementioned amusement is at your accusation of POV. (Though I admit that I find magical conspiracy theories mildly entertaining.) I tried to highlight the more POV-worded parts, but it proved impossible. The entire paragraph is so bad. A neutral sentence might read "He argues that civilization and cultural elitism have eliminated public consideration of such concepts as immortality, alternative dimensions and magic." "He attempts to open up people's frame of mind" is blatantly non-NPOV. I'll try to clean it up without removing it, although Rappoport's views seem well summed up in the lead.
