While very interesting info, the situation which dictates this page has happened to hundreds of other athletes in almost every sport. Merging this with the Barry Bonds entry would be stupid.

I think it should be merged into an article on the MVP Baseball series and mentioned in the sense of noting that Bonds is one of several players that is represented by a fictional name, but is one of the only ones to opt out of the union as opposed to being denied entrance into the union. I argue that the article, on its own, does not fall into the notability requirement necessary to warrant its appearance on Wikipedia. 70.21.227.220 00:46, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Agreed. It would be easy to mention that "Jon Dowd" was an alter ego of sorts for Bonds because he declined to let his likeness be used. The page could link to Fictional Baseball Players. Wise King Otto 01:05, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

I have the game and never noticed until recently that Jon Dowd represents Barry Bonds. Although there might be some info, people will keep on adding info and expanding the article. One of the challenges in the game is to beat Jon Dowd in the Homerun Showdown which I have done.Cennnny 09:40 June,15, 2007. (EST)
Do not merge with the Barry Bonds article. The two articles are about two totally different things. The Barry Bonds article is about Bonds himself: his life, his records, his alleged scandals. The Jon Dowd article is about EA's contract with the MLBPA, and how EA created fictional characters to replace the players who were not in the MLBPA.CheckeredFlag200 23:19, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

I thought that this character was named after John M. Dowd, the investigator into Pete Rose's gambling?!? Is there a source for it being stated that it was named after an assistant producer? 10:37, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
