Jonglei

Jonglei (Arabic: جونقلي), sometimes Junqali, is one of the 26 states of Sudan and where the civil war started in 1983 (wilayah). It has an area of 122,479 km² and an estimated population of approximately 800,000 (1983). Bor is the capital of the state. Jonglei's governor is Kuol Manyang Juk.
Commissioner of Gok County is Cdr. Abraham Jok Aring and Deng Akuei Deng is the interim commissioner of Athoc County. Central Bor County (twic) and Duke County are under Commissioner Mayen Ngor, who for years, has been anticipated to head the Agriculture Department in South Sudan due to his field experience as well as his longevity in the agricultural field
The State is subdivided into 12 Counties: Gok County, Athoc County, Central Bor County (twic), Duk County, Pibor County, Pochalla, Akobo, Khorfulus, and Waat. Each of the counties is headed by a Commissioner currently appointed by the President of South Sudan in conjunction with State Governor and local population.
The other important towns include: Malek, Baidit/Padak, Akobo, Pochalla, Buma, Panyagoor, Awan Maranga in Aboudit, Anyidi, and Jalle.
