Jonathan Norton, more commonly known as Butch, (born March 21, 1958) is a drummer/percussionist/vocalist who has recorded and toured with many different artists. He was the drummer for the band Eels from 1996 through 2003. The artists he's worked with include: Lisa Germano, Tracy Chapman, Rufus Wainwright, Fiona Apple, Michael Penn, Aimee Mann and Lucinda Williams.
Although the official Eels announcement of Butch's departure claimed that he was leaving the group to do studio drumming and play a string of concert dates with Tracy Chapman, in actuality he left the band due alleged financial disputes between himself and frontman E. He occasionally plays in the band Dreaming Ferns.
Many of the Eels songs when Butch was a member, are featured in films and television.
Butch also played drums, percussion/FX person on the movie "300", along with several other great musicians. He also performed on "The Dukes of Hazard", "Bad News Bears", "Rated X" and "The Big Lebowski".
He is currently on tour with Lucinda Williams. Note that E (of Eels) is a guest artist on some of the shows in September of 2007.
