Jonathan Ian Mathers

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jonathan Mathers (born 5 April 1976) is a Yonkers, New York cartoonist famous mostly for creating the animated Macromedia Flash series 'Neurotically Yours', featuring characters that rant about the world around them. Mathers was also the centerpiece of a band called Negative Sock Boy.

One of his first cartoons, 4Y-Records, was a comic strip about Marek, a disgruntled record store clerk, who complains about the state of the music industry to his various clients.

Following that, he produced Ollie And Germ.

He then progressed to his most recent success, the animated Macromedia Flash black comedy series Neurotically Yours, starring Foamy the ranting squirrel and Germaine, his goth-chick companion (Germaine's voice is done by Dawn Bennett, a budding female voice over artist).

In the same time he founded the company iLL WiLL PreSS. It is a semi-corporate, semi-independent outfit.

A series of rumors (accompanied by fake tribute videos) in early October 2005 claimed that Jonathan had died in a car accident with his grandmother, but the rumors were confirmed to be untrue when he published a statement on his website.

Jonathan is known for his enigmatic presence on the Internet. He does not disclose any personal information; this is believed to be the cause of many rumors and speculation that circulate about him. Most members of the Neurotically Yours fanbase fervently disagree over his "biography", and only on a few details has a consensus has been reached. Mathers is also the drummer for the alternative underground band Conspiracy of Four.
