He plays the character Walter Nichols in the Nickelodeon television series Drake & Josh. He used to sing for The Shakers.
Goldstein waited tables for ten years to help pay the bills between acting gigs. In a bizarre twist of fate, one of Goldstein’s regular customers turned out to be Drake and Josh producer Dan Schneider, who did not recognize his favorite waiter on the audition tape. "After he picked me his wife Lisa looked at the tape and said, ‘Hey, isn’t that our waiter Jonathan?’" Schneider explained.
Goldstein grew up in New York City and honed his acting skills at New York University and Northwestern University before landing a role on the soap opera All My Children and later heading for Hollywood.
