Jonathan Del Mar (born 1951) is a musicologist and conductor.

Born in London, he studied at Christ Church, Oxford and the Royal College of Music in London.

[edit] Beethoven scholar

He is most noted for his intense research of Beethoven works, particularly the new edition of Beethoven's nine symphonies for Bärenreiter. This edition has been used by conductors of the standing of Claudio Abbado, Bernard Haitink, Sir Simon Rattle, and David Zinman.

His research started in 1985 and concluded in 1997 with the publication of the score for the Ninth Symphony.

He is a well respected conductor like his father Norman Del Mar. He has conducted the Hanover Band, the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique and was resident conductor of Cumbria Youth Orchestra from 1984 until 1996.
