Jonathan Baillie

Jonathan Baillie (born 2 September 1985 in Irvine, North Ayrshire) is a former Scottish professional footballer who played for Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League.

Baillie, a central defender, made his Hibs debut during the 2003-04 season when then manager Bobby Williamson drafted him in to defence for a League Cup quarter-final match against Celtic in December 2003. The 18-year old Baillie helped his side win 2-1 but didn't get a further chance in the first team until another match against Celtic three months later, this time in the SPL. The outcome was quite different however as Hibs were beaten 4-0, while Baillie himself was sent-off. He played in a 3-1 win over Livingston a fortnight later but had to wait until the following 2004-05 season to get his chance again in the team.

Baillie made just two appearances in Tony Mowbray's time as manager and wasn't picked again after a 4-4 home draw against Dundee in September 2004. He had a brief 4 game loan spell at Ayr United in January 2006 but soon returned to Edinburgh. He did not play a first-team game for Hibernian in over two and a half years, a period in which he has been the victim of a catalogue of injury problems. These injuries eventually forced him into early retirement from football, at the age of 21, at the end of the 2006-07 season.
