He formed the band in 1988 with fellow Wellingtonian and Wellington High School student, Tom Larkin. Toogood and Larkin met as teenage AC/DC fans. Larkin and fellow band members Phil Knight and Karl Kippenberger reside in Melbourne, Australia, however Toogood lives back in his home town, Wellington, New Zealand, with his wife and stepdaughter. Jon plays classic 1970s Fender Telecaster Deluxe and Maton Mastersound guitars.
