Jon Niese (born October 27, 1986, is a Major League Baseball pitcher in the New York Mets organization. He was drafted in the 7th round of the 2005 First- Year Player Draft by the Mets. Niese previously pitched for the New York Mets for the St. Lucie Mets and Hagerstown Suns in 2006.
Coincidentally, he was born on the same day the Mets won the 1986 World Series. He was also drafted in the same number round as the number of games there were in that World Series.
He's currently with the New York Mets in Spring Training. He so far has been extremely impressive.
