Hi, Jolly hockey sticks what, and Welcome to Wikipedia!

Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy the encyclopedia and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read the simplified ruleset. If you need help, feel free to use any of Wikipedia's hundreds of resources. I personally recommend the Wikipedia:Boot Camp, where in addition to standard posts, you can use an IRC to chat online with fellow Wikipedians willing to help! In addition, Wikipedia also has pages dedicated to the use of Wikipedia, for example, if you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting pages visit the manual of style. Feel free to post questions on my talk page - I'm happy to help you with anything you need.

Additional tips

Here are some extra tips to help you get around in Wikipedia:
  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using four tildes (~). If your keyboard doesn't have tildes (or for whatever reason) you can also click the Image:Signature_icon.png button on the bar above the editing section.

Good luck. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikihobby (talkcontribs)

Current tasks

Here are some tasks you can do:

[edit] Advice

Please use the Wikipedia:Sandbox to test things. Do not write things like meh on people's talk pages as it is considered as vandalism. Also, sign your name when you write a comment by adding four tides (~). --Wikihobby 11:03, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Stop the vandalism!

Please use the Wikipedia:Sandbox to test things. Do not write things like

soz on people's talk pages as it is considered as vandalism. Also, sign your name when you write a comment by adding four tides (~). Wikihobby 11:56, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia policy

See the Wikipedia policy how to do useful things on Wikipedia. Remember: talk pages are about Wikipedia content and not discusion forms! Why do you write things like soz or meh and what do these things mean? Anyway, please stop it!Wikihobby 16:45, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fictional Pirate!?

Please refrain from adding yourself to a factual category like list of fictional pirates unless you have a reliable source to indicate that you are indeed a fictional pirate. This could well be regarded as vandalism. Thank you. Capuchin 09:54, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

My mistake, I can now see clearly that you are indeed a fictional pirate, but still, we would need a reliable unbiased written source to include yourself in the category. :) Capuchin 08:22, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Smee boat.gif

Image:Smee boat.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
