[edit] NPOV WARNING

11/1/05 anon user 82.153.105.221 added links "random acts of cultims" and "random acts of stupidity" to non-existent wiki pages. I am reverting these acts of POV vandalism unless, at the very least, pages are created for the links. Less intentionally inflamatory titles should be considered. Salty Kid | talk 01:18, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

As a "member" of the group being discussed I support Salty Kid's reversions here. The group is not a cult, although that term is widely used in a self-aware sense (the founder/author of the book is fundamentally a comic journalist and the comedy of "starting a cult" is where the term comes from.) Therefore the links which Salty Kid has removed were at best an attempt at adding comedy in the spirit of the book, which isn't exactly appropriate here. If they were instead a serious attempt at questioning the safety/validity/honesty of the group, then there are surely some articles in WikiPedia already about sociological phenomena, mass observation research techniques etc. which would be more appropriate links. [edit] Joke Religion

Should this be categorised under Joke religions?--Darrelljon 14:43, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

No, because the business of performing random acts of kindness was proposed — and is undertaken — quite sincerely. Also, it's not treated as a religion by anyone who's actually joined! Pretty clear cut. If it's possible to put it in a category, it's more like "flash mobs" or student (i.e. university) clubs/societies, I'd say. – Kieran T (talk | contribs) 16:42, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
