[edit] DG r GD McQueen??

I suspect you are the same as 66.48.17.56, who asked the question last week. If you wish to "google" David George McQueen, you will find:

  • a Mountain named after him near Grande Cache
  • Correspondence from Hamilton ON to a young Minister named Calvin McQuesten (his brother Thomas McQuesten is cited in wiki) who was in Edmonton circa 1910. McQueen came from Kirkwall, still a rural congregation, now located in the bounds of mega-city Hamilton (not too far from Westfield Pioneer Village, where the outdoor shots--Life with Bill, for example, from The Red Green Show were filmed)
  • UofA records noting his LLD from a Special Convocation in October 1915
  • and not on google but worthy of mentioning; here's D.G.McQueen's graduation picture from Toronto's Knox College (not the Knox College--Galesberg, Ill--that Stephen Colbert was ranting about Monday night)--he's fifth from the left on the Second Row--J. Goforth (Jonathan Goforth) is on the left;

  • any more questions?

[edit] Commercial use of Image:Cromdale Screenshot.JPG

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Cromdale Screenshot.JPG, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Cromdale Screenshot.JPG is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Cromdale Screenshot.JPG itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 00:13, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Cromdale Screenshot.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Cromdale Screenshot.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 21:36, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Hairsine (Edmonton)

A tag has been placed on Hairsine (Edmonton) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit] Kilkenny (Edmonton)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Kilkenny (Edmonton), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Kilkenny (Edmonton). [edit] Neighborhoods

Since you are one of the main contributor to Edmonton neighbourhoods, would you cre to comment at Wikipedia talk:Canadian Wikipedians' notice board/Style guide#Neighbourhoods regarding naming guidelines for Canadian neighbourhoods? Thanks. --Qyd (talk) 16:51, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Edmonton meetup

Hello - I'm contacting you with this message because you have indicated that you're from the Edmonton area - if you are not actually in Edmonton, I apologize for bothering you; unfortunately, the sort of spamming I'm doing isn't conducive to reading everybody's userpages thoroughly. I am investigating the possibility of creating a Wikipedia meetup in Edmonton for sometime during the spring or summer of 2008. If you're interested, please visit Wikipedia:Meetup/Edmonton, add yourself to the list of interested editors, and watchlist the page. Cheers, Sarcasticidealist (talk) 00:04, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
