[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MUTV-Retro-Logo.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:MUTV-Retro-Logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:15, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Orgrimmar

I have nominated Orgrimmar, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Orgrimmar. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. shoy 05:51, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WP:UCFD

Was this edit made by you? Either that, or you changed someone else's !vote here and signed as them. Can you explain what happened? – Steel 18:59, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Explanation on your talk page, neglected to log out of a public terminal — Johnl1479 19:38, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Let me check that I understand this correctly. You posted here in reply to someone else's comment. Then, by sheer coincidence, someone else using the same public computers at the same time as you, with enough knowledge of Wikipedia to find UCFD (which is quite obscure), posts in support of you on the same discussion, formatting everything identically to you and making some identical grammatical mistakes as you? You later indicated that you also wouldn't mind renaming the category. Later still, the other user, this time mysteriously in control of your account (???), posts again in support of you, signing as the same IP he previously used (???), then removes it for some unexplained reason? If that's what happened it seems a little... implausible, to say the least. A simpler explanation, one that doesn't require an extremely improbable chain of events happening, is that you simply forgot to log out to make this edit and immediately reverted realising your mistake, throwing together a half-baked excuse in defense of it. Sockpuppetry to give the impression that your position has more support than it does is possibly the most frowned upon activity on this site and it's best to avoid it in future. – Steel 21:00, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your revert on William Clark (explorer)

Thanks for trying to fix the vandalism. You made a common mistake, which I fixed. The previous editor made two bad edits to the article, but you only removed one of them. For a few minutes, readers were led to believe that Mr. Clark was born in Baghdad!

To prevent this from happening again, do one of these things:

  • File a request for rollback. The rollback tool automatically solves this problem.
  • Check the page history after a revert to make sure you got it right. Reading the first sentence or two as a sanity check is also a good idea. (Besides, you might learn something!)

[edit] Your revert on Barry Manilow

How can you revert when that does not have a citation or any credibility? It is vandalism in its most simple form. I hope you fix your mistake as soon as possible.

[edit] Antelope, California

Hi, the recent edit you made to Antelope, California has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. [edit] Antelope, California

Sorry for restoring the content you removed. It at first appeared to be vandalism. Then, I saw it was possibly not vandalism. Anyway, I restored your version. Apologies again —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cro0016 (talkcontribs) 08:25, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] And, another thing

I'm sorry if I did the wrong thing. It was a mistake. I'm in a zero-vandalism tolerance status. And, I reacted too quickly. Steve Crossin (talk) 08:28, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use images in the userspace

I have removed the image Image:NirvanaNevermindalbumcover.jpg from your userspace User:Johnl1479/List of the 100 Greatest Songs Of The 90's‎. Please be aware that images that are claimed as fair use have a restriction in location:

From the policy page Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria
9. Restrictions on location. Non-free content is allowed only in articles (not disambiguation pages), and only in article namespace, subject to exemptions. (To prevent an image category from displaying thumbnails, add __NOGALLERY__ to it; images are linked, not inlined, from talk pages when they are a topic of discussion.)

Placing non-free images in the userspace is a violation and has been removed. Please do not restore this image without consoltation. Thank you. — Save_Us 23:18, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Llanidloes High School

Perhaps you could reconsider your speedy delete on the above now that I have expanded the article. It's notable by virtue of its past pupil and indeed as a comprehensive in its own right. Thanks. Paste (talk) 18:55, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
