[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!
Dear Johnglines: welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:
Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user talk (discussion) page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. A third option is to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator.
One last bit of advice: please sign any discussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD! — coelacan talk — 04:20, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] any photos?
Are you able to provide any photographs of John Glines? They would need to be provided under a license compatible with Wikipedia. The Creative Commons "Attribution-ShareAlike" license is one that's acceptable. You can read about it at http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ and there's some detail of why we need these licenses at User:Fastfission/Noncommercial or (for a shorter explanation) at WP:ERP#An explanation. If you have questions, please leave me a message at User talk:Coelacan. Thanks, — coelacan talk — 04:43, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your recent edit
Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added to the page Harvey Fierstein do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Wikipedia policy prohibits blogs from being used as references in Wikipedia articles. [edit] License tagging for Image:Whoop-Dee-Doo!.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Whoop-Dee-Doo!.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 12:11, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright
Sorry, I don't understand. The picture I posted of Jean Smart as Lil in "Last Summer at Bluefish Cove" was taken for publicity purposes and the original copyright belongs to the production company, which is The Glines. But it's offered to the press, then it becomes public domain. Please advise.
- Public domain is a specific legal status: it means that the image either was never copyrighted, or the copyright has expired. It's very rare for recent publicity images (or any other recently-made images) to be in the public domain. In the case of publicity images, they are copyrighted and offered to the press under very specific conditions: that the image is used to promote the person or organization in question. --Carnildo 22:14, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:*John_Glines.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. [edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:01-Barges-Garuda.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:01-Barges-Garuda.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 10:57, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
