[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Mac Book Air Leopard.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Mac Book Air Leopard.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MacAddct 1984 (talk • contribs) 19:14, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Johndbritton, the MacBook Air image you uploaded is not irreplaceable, as anyone with a decent camera can take a picture of it after it is released to the public. I have proposed that the picture be deleted. No hard feelings OK? Arbiteroftruth (talk) 19:42, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- MBA will be released in two weeks anyway. Besides, there will be photos on the Apple website. Wikipedia, I believe, can wait until there are free images available. This is simply a copyright concern. You took an image from the Apple website, which is technically illegal under copyright laws. Do understand. Arbiteroftruth (talk) 19:51, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- John, the thing is, the product WILL be released. Sooner or later, we will have the photo! You made the argument that it is irreplaceable, and that is completely baseless. Irreplaceable would equal to something like a car accident or a nuclear explosion, something that cannot be replicated without substantial financial losses or human losses. In that case, it would be reasonable. MacBook Air will be reproduced a million times over in the years to come. It is ABSOLUTELY NOT irreplaceable. Also, free images already exist to replace yours, and they have been posted on the MacBook Air page. Your photo no longer needs to be on Wikipedia. Arbiteroftruth (talk) 03:25, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Mac Book Air Leopard.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Mac Book Air Leopard.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:45, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
