[edit] Copyright violation in Saqi Books

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the article Saqi Books, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition was deleted under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text—which means allowing other people to modify it—then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here. You can also leave a message on my talk page.--Fuhghettaboutit 08:23, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright status of Nigel Watson, actor

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Nigel Watson, actor. For legal reasons, we will delete copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites (http://www.mssu.edu/projectsouthasia/TSA/VIIN1/Richmond.htm in this case) or from printed material.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article's talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Nigel Watson, actor with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article's talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Nigel Watson, actor with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own original words to avoid any copyright infringement. Thank you. WebHamster 15:52, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Suggestions

A couple quick suggestions.

I saw your edits to the the article about you. Your edits all seems reasonable but I find that, in my experience, it's best to discuss changes to an article about yourself on a talk page first if they are beyond simple grammatical or spelling corrections.

Perhaps more importantly, I removed the redirect on your user page. You should probably put some user page content there, even if the primary point is point people to your main page. Your user page is supposed to be information by you. The article about you is, if anything, by everyone else. It's a little disconcerting to be taken from one namespace to another like like that.

Above all, thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. —mako 17:36, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Frances Pinter

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Frances Pinter, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.pinter.org.uk. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 07:41, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for rewriting that. It's actually a lot less hassle than clearing permissions. As for Image:Frances pinter.jpg, did you take it yourself? Because that's how you tagged it. If you did take it, all's well. If not, you should use the {{GFDL}} and {{cc-by-3.0}} tags, which do not state that the uploader is the creator. Thanks for your contributions! -- But|seriously|folks  04:38, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

I uploaded a fully copylefted photo by her husband to replace the previous photo. --Johnbuckman 07:18, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Peter Cox (OMLX)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Peter Cox (OMLX), and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Peter Cox. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 14:16, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Peter Cox (OMLX)

A tag has been placed on Peter Cox (OMLX), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD G12.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Toddstreat1 14:22, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] October 2007

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that recently you carried out a copy and paste page move from Peter Cox (OMLX). Please do not move articles by copying and pasting them because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. [edit] Note on Peter Cox

Just a quick clarification: user:Johnbuckman was not the perpetrator of the copyright vio on Peter Cox - he did a cut-and-paste move of the article. I was the one who tagged the Coyvio. Toddstreat1 18:14, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:AlbinMichel KDcover.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:AlbinMichel KDcover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 12:16, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
