[edit] Your talk page archive
Please ensure that, when editing your talk page archive or creating links to it, that you are pointing to User:John Zdralek/Archive 1 2006-2007. The contents have appeared numerous times in the wrong namespace, at the article page John Zdralek archive 01 2006-2007. I've edited the link in the box above to point to the right location. Thanks! --Kinu t/c 06:17, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Missing letters?
In your note to me, you said:
- "very quick update of the pipeline references!
- also regarding missing letters this historical webpage of importance is missing a capital letter A (Newspaper section)
- i looked for it at the bottom of the page but it must have bounced when it reached the end of the ligne--John Zdralek 07:11, 28 May 2007 (UTC)"
I wasn't sure what you meant. I looked for a connection to the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline page, but it doesn't seem to fit. Another article perhaps? Sunray 14:14, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Calgary Wikipedia Meetup
With the municipal election coming up, I figured it would be good to have another local meet of Wikipedia contributors in Calgary. This would be a chance to chat about Wikipedia stuff in general, but also to discuss ways to cover the election on Wikipedia. I’m suggesting next week, at a location (TBD) in the downtown area. If you’re interested in participating, please vote on when you’d like to schedule the meet. Thanks. —GrantNeufeld 22:00, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:2007 September 11, Google Earth screen capture, Harad, Saudi Arabia.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:2007 September 11, Google Earth screen capture, Harad, Saudi Arabia.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 07:41, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Image:2007 September 11, Google Earth screen capture, Harad, Saudi Arabia.png
A tag has been placed on Image:2007 September 11, Google Earth screen capture, Harad, Saudi Arabia.png, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD g12.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Clubjuggle 08:58, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Google Earth display image, Haradh, Saudi Arabia.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Google Earth display image, Haradh, Saudi Arabia.png. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VegitaU 16:37, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Example of a Wikipedia user as a search engine result.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Example of a Wikipedia user as a search engine result.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VegitaU 16:43, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] September 2007
Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Image:Google Earth display image, Haradh, Saudi Arabia.png and Image:Example of a Wikipedia user as a search engine result.jpg are blatant copyright violations. You cannot upload copyrighted information under public-domain or free-use tags. Do not do this again. VegitaU 16:45, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
In any case, your block should have expired by now. If you're still blocked, please follow the instructions at Template:Autoblock.--Chaser - T 22:19, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
thank you, i'm going to let things percolate a bit more before i take another run at the license, rationale, and format--John Zdralek 23:10, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- Not gonna work, buddy. At least not for aerial Google Earth pics. You'll be hard pressed to find any that end up meeting the criteria for fair-use. You can try, of course, but I'll be watching your contributions like a hawk. Happy editing! :) -- VegitaU 00:37, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Template:Canadian coal mines begin
A tag has been placed on Template:Canadian coal mines begin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).
Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 21:10, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'm going to delete your template, but first I'm going to create a user subpage for you, so that you have access to the template. It doesn't look filled out enough to be a good and useful template, but you can work on it in your userspace. When you've filled it out, feel free to recreate it.
