[edit] Block

This bot put a Wikiproject tag at talk:Ewens's sampling formula and in the process wrecked the heading of a section on the talk page. Please fix this bug before resuming its use. Michael Hardy (talk) 18:10, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

... and I see this bot did the same thing to another talk page too. Michael Hardy (talk) 18:13, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

I suspect all it would take to fix the bug would be to have the bot insert a single line break after the WikiProject template. Michael Hardy (talk) 18:56, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Fixed CWii(Talk|Contribs) 19:01, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

OK, I've unblocked this thing; we'll see what happens. Michael Hardy (talk) 19:06, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

I promise I'm fixed :) John Bot (talk) 19:17, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bot wrongly tagging articles as genetics

The bot just tagged a bunch of articles that have nothing to do with genetics as belonging to wikiproject genetics. The articles that I noticed were: Talk:World Population Foundation Talk:Reproductive health Talk:Population control Talk:Family planning The connection of these to genetics is so tenuous that I can't imagine why anybody would want them in that project.

Also, Family planning has a WikiProjectBanners tag, since it is in multiple projects, the bot just jammed the genetics tag in front of the multiple banners tag, rather than integrating it in with the rest. (Seems like less than courteous behavior by the bot.) Thanks. Zodon (talk) 05:56, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Gah! I give in. No more trying to do genetics until I get a category list. That last problem is a bug. CWii(Talk|Contribs) 20:04, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Sidney Altman considers himself to be a geneticist - you need to realize that genetics is genetics, even if the organism in question is only the lowly bacterium Escherichia coli. From Ann M. Altman Ph.D. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Annmaltmanphd (talkcontribs) 23:55, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Category:John Bot tagging 1

Today you added Category:John Bot tagging 1 at the bottom of Wikipedia:Shortcut. I looked around but could not find any explanation of the purpose of that. What is it for?

To avoid future confusions I recommend you add an explanation to the bot page or category page and link to that explanation from the edit summary when you add strange categories like that.

And when you add a category to a page you should add it where categories usually are added. That is before the interwikis, not after them.
