And now, on with our regularly scheduled talk...
[edit] On the Catholic Church of Wikipedia
As you have described yourself as a Catholic, I thought I would alert you as a co-religionist to your opportunity to delete the particularly offensive article, Wikipedia:Catholic Church of Wikipedia.--Thomas Aquinas 21:49, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for pointing it out. I cast my vote at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Catholic Church of Wikipedia. Why are heterodox Catholics heterodox!? SHEESH! John Rigali 09:21, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] A Message to Pro-Life Wikipedians
The section "Foetal Pain" (Fetal Pain) has been deleted from the Abortion article. Could you help restore it? If you would like to see what was deleted, go to my talk page, scroll to "Fetal Pain," and click the provided link.--Thomas Aquinas 22:20, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Jesus
Check out the Jesus article and edit it to keep it focused on Jesus and a biographical account of Him. Watch the Jesus page to keep it focused on Him. Thank you. Scifiintel 22:32, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] This type of censorship makes me sick
Vote to keep, show these hypocrites what's what, tolerance? ha, only when it's good for them--Diatrobica;l 23:13, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] CAoW
Since you are listed as a Roman Catholic, I figured I'd send you this. Wikipedia:Catholic Alliance of wikipedia has been nominated for Deletion. Please vote and/or tell other people to vote to keep this organization on wikipedia. [edit] Family trees
Hello John, good morning! I'm glad to see that there is still someone who appreciates the work i had! I'm no longer a regular contributor here and, precisely because i dont keep track of my wiki-en articles and images, i placed a tag saying that everything i do is {{Cc-by-sa}}. You can imagine my dismay when i found out that the Portuguese Kings family tree (above all!) was deleted... If you have the files at hand and the will to do it, please feel free to re-upload them with the tag {{Cc-by-sa}}. (Actually i was a bit annoyed with the deletion, but that's all gone). This, in case you dont know it by now, is the site i used as major source, if you have any gaps in medieval geneology, its a good place to look. Cheers, muriel@pt 10:15, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Rodovid.org
Hi, I found you from the category of Wikipedian genealogists. I wonder if you have heard of/been involved in any of the previous attempts at starting a genealogy wiki under the foundation. Seeing as you were in the category, I thought you may be interested in the new project proposal, Rodovid. This project is currently running at rodovid.org. I would greatly appreciate it if you could visit the site and give me your opinion of it. Any input at all will be useful. Thanks. --Bjwebb (talk) 10:34, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Another LA-area Wikipedia meetup?
There is a proposal for a 3rd LA-area meetup at Philippe's on Saturday, 24 June 2006. If you are interested in another meetup, please visit the proposal and comment on the date and location. BlankVerse 08:29, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Conservative_notice_board
Hello, I noticed that you identify as a conservative Wikipedian. So I would like to invite you to post any conservative issues you might have over at the new project page, Wikipedia:Conservative_notice_board. Thanks. --Facto 05:49, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WikiProject Narnia
Hello, I noticed that you edited an article related to, or expressed interest in The Chronicles of Narnia. I thought you may be interested in knowing that there is a WikiProject working to improve articles about Narnia, your help would be greatly appreciated. Please consider joining the WikiProject Narnia. Thank you! Bornagain4 02:41, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Sahaba
(See User talk:Striver#Request for collaboration in cleaning up the genealogy of Muhammad and Ṣaḥābah on Wikipedia for John's replies.)
Hi! Well, how about joining Wikipedia:WikiProject Salaf as a first step? --Striver 04:47, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- There is no formal expectations, the "membership" serves as nothing more than a notification of interest and a "contant me if need be". So you are welcomed to join and do nothing more, ever. Of course, i would be happy if you would do more than that.--Striver 20:07, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Category for articles created
(See main conversation at User talk:Striver#Category for articles created.)
Considering my contributions, i wonder if it is ok to create a category for adding the talk pages of articles i have created, much in the same way as Category:Medieval warfare task force articles, possibly naming it "Category:Articles created by User:Striver"? --Striver 17:44, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Jesus
I recently found that the Jesus article on Wikipedia is the first item that comes up when you search for "Jesus" on the world’s most widely used search engine, Google.
Please edit the Jesus article to make it an accurate and excellent representation of Him.
The Jesus article may be a person’s first impression of Jesus. It would be nice if their first impression was from a Christian or the Bible, but for so many in these new days it probably comes from the Internet. Watch the Jesus page to keep it focused on Him. Thanks a lot.
Also, watch out to follow Wikipedia's Policies and guidelines. It is especially hard for the Three-revert rule and the Neutral point of view policy to be followed because of the nature of the article, but please follow these policies along with citing sources so that the article does not get locked from editing and can't be improved further. Thanks again. Scifiintel 18:29, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Regarding edits made to Lewis Sabran
Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, JohnAlbertRigali! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule \bexample\.com, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links policy for more information. If the link was to an image, please read Wikipedia's image tutorial on how to use a more appropriate method to insert the image into an article. If your link was intended to promote a site you own, are affiliated with, or will make money from inclusion in Wikipedia, please note that inserting spam into Wikipedia is against policy. [edit] Age category
Hello! If you are receiving this message, that means that your user page is in a specific year category. Per a recent user-category per deletion, all specific year categories are to be deleted. If you wish to continue using year categories, you have two options:
- Using an age group category, such as Category:Wikipedians in their 30s
- Using a decade category, such as Category:Wikipedians born in the 1970s.
If you wish, you may do both. Hopefully, this change in categorization will be quick and painless. Happy editing! --An automated message from MessedRobot 12:36, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Farnsworth.png
Hello, JohnAlbertRigali. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Farnsworth.png) was found at the following location: User:JohnAlbertRigali/Me. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 03:03, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello JohnAlbertRigali, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:VDHScrest.gif) was found at the following location: User:JohnAlbertRigali/Me. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Please note that it is possible that the image on your page is included vie a template or usebox. In that case, please find a free image for the template or userbox. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 06:12, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Please cite
Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Uma Thurman, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are already familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add your original reference to the article. Thank you. --Yamla 20:52, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
I have determined that the content that I added is true. I've been trying to figure out how to cite it because I pieced together that content from several sources; no single source contains it, and therefore I can't cite only one source. It's my bad for not throwing a "citation needed" tag on it, but couldn't you have done that instead of reverting it out? Now we're having this conversation and I have to add the content again — a waste of our time. -John Rigali 14:11, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- It is your responsibility to cite the content when you are adding it. See WP:V and WP:BLP. Now, if you can find a reliable set of sources that meet WP:RS, please feel free to readd it. Note that blogs and the like are not generally sufficient. --Yamla 14:16, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
I acknowledged my responsibility in my initial reply. What bothers me here is that I've been wrongly led to believe that your revert was wrong because (A) I was unaware of WP:V and WP:BLP, and (B) I've seen similar uncited content in other articles to which other admins simply added the "citation needed" tag instead of reverting it out in compliance with WP:V and WP:BLP. All admins should always comply with those policies, and Sam Spade's welcome blurb should mandate, rather than simply suggest, the reading of the links that it contains. As for my source citation dilemma, I don't see a solution at WP:CS, so I'll ask for a solution at Wikipedia talk:Citing sources. -John Rigali 16:19, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:VDHScrest.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:VDHScrest.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:21, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
