[edit] Comments on Alito prior to his time on the Circuit Court

Prior to Alito's time on the Circuit Court, these noted figures rendered these comments on Alito:

  • Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA): “You have obviously had a very distinguished record, and I certainly commend you for long service in the public interest. I think it is a very commendable career and I am sure you will have a successful one as a judge.” [1], speaking on Alito's nomination to the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals.
  • Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ): “I believe Mr. Alito has the experience and the skills to be the kind of judge the public deserves – one who is impartial, thoughtful, and fair. I urge the Senate to confirm his nomination.” [2], speaking on Alito's nomination to the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals.
  • Former Senator Bill Bradley (D-NJ): “The confirmation of Sam Alito as U.S. Attorney for New Jersey is testimony to the commitment he has shown and the success of his efforts as a law enforcement official. I am confident that he will continue to do all he can to uphold the laws of this nation with the kind of determination and vigor that has been his trademark in the past.” [3]

[edit] 2005 Longhorn paragraph

The team's penultimate victory of the season, the Big 12 Championship Game, featured the biggest margin of victory in the history of that contest.[1] Their final win in the 2006 Rose Bowl against the University of Southern California Trojans for the national championship, as well as their overall season, have been cited as standing among the greatest performances in college football history by publications such as College Football News,[2][3][4] the Atlanta Journal-Constitution,[5] Scout.com,[6] and Sports Illustrated.[7] ESPN awarwded the ESPY Award for the "Best Game" in any sport to the Longhorns and the Trojans.[8] The Longhorns finished as the only unbeaten team in NCAA Division I-A football that year, with 13 wins and zero losses overall.[9][10]
