John Richard Schwab M.A.

    Mr. Schwab received his Bachelors degree from Texas Lutheran College in 1982, and completed his graduate studies at St. Mary’s University in 1989.  Mr. Schwab’s career has covered entry level direct care with non-profit organizations to advanced program directorship with MHMR Community Centers serving multiple counties in Texas.  Throughout his work Mr. Schwab has dedicated his life to improving the lives of people with disabilities by focusing on helping individuals “find, get, and keep” employment.  Mr. Schwab joined the Unicorn Centers team as Executive Director in May 2001.  Unicorn Centers has experienced unprecedented growth in the past three years and has now purchased a new building effectively moving the program from 8,500 square feet to 28,000.  It is Mr. Schwab’s goal to grow Unicorn Centers but maintain its tradition of quality services and providing a “unique place for special people.”
   Mr. Schwab is married to Kathy and has two children Jennifer (16 years old) and Tess (a graduate art history student at the University of Delaware) Mr. Schwab is also an active member of a local congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America here in San Antonio, Texas.
