John Wright's the name.

Englishman in Paris.

A musician who has always loved steam in all its forms.

Yes I have got interests other than steam but prefer to remain a single-issue contributor to Wikipedia in order to have time for them.

Never could understand this rift between Art and Science.

This user believes that articles are useless without images.

— a very real problem that is strangling WP and needs to be urgently addressed at high level.

[edit] Sandboxes

I am at present working on proposals for new versions of both the Boiler and Steam Engine articles. I propose slight change in the titles:Steam engine (Boiler/steam generator) in order to isolate the paragraphs on steam heating; there is a short historical section into which I will put new images of Cornish and Lancashire boilers, at present incorrect. The proposed title for the second article is Steam engine (Drive unit) this takes into account the fact that the two components may be combined at random whilst "disambiguating" the fact that "steam engine" stands either for a complete unit (not just a "railroad locomotive") or else the machinery alone. I have also merged the two historical descriptions into one with a general overview at the beginning. All are welcome with bucket and spade into these sandboxes; if and when consensus is reached we can move the articles without delay.--John of Paris 12:36, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Another idea was to redistribute the material for the Bulleid Pacific locomotive articles according to the historical phases, very similar for the two basic types; this leads to much duplication. The main contributor User: Bulleid Pacific was not convinced of the validity of this approach, so if have not pursued the matter further, especially since the Merchant Navy article has now reached FA level. Any further edits will be for my own personal satisfaction.--John of Paris (talk) 01:23, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Work on the following two articles has come from a desire to link the histories of the Drummond "double singles" with that of his 4-6-0 classes.--John of Paris (talk) 01:23, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

My last sandbox is an attempt to reinstate an article on the DLM company created by User: Biscuittin that has recently been unjustly deleted as spam; however it does need a broader approach and a copy-paste quotation from company blurb was probably the main reason for the tag. There may be an argument in favour of the creation of a new general article on Modern Steam (it's already been done).--John of Paris (talk) 01:23, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
