President of Creative Concepts in Walnut Creek, CA, John has over 40 years in graphic design, branding, advertising and marketing both with his own companies and with major corporations and agencies. He is an award winning designer (ADDYs, One Show, Cable Car Awards, Clios, Western Art Directors, etc.) and has won broadcast creative awards for both radio and TV spots (NCBA - Jumbo Pawns Awards, Academy Awards-Regional, ADDYs).
John has been active in both trade associations and community service organizations. As Past President of AdMARK - East Bay Advertising & Marketing Association and currently Director on the Greater San Francisco Ad Club Board of Directors he is Historian emeritus for the club. Past Governor - American Advertising Fedeeration (AAF), District 14 and Past Director on the National Board of Directors AAF he is a lifetime member of the AAF.
An accomplished speaker and instructor, John has conducted classes in Marketing for Small Businesses, Branding, and Creative Solutions Development. He has addressed many service organizations as well as classes at University of Pacific (UOP), Stockton, Diablo Valley College, Los Medanos College, UC Berkeley and various high schools and dessign schools. He has written articles that have appeared in Print, Creative Design Magazine and on the web.
His philosophy on creativity is that it be positive and communicate easily and effectively to the target market. "There is a trend to be negative in the messages that are flooding the media in this first decade of the 21st century, the humor is dark, the benefits instead of enhancing the viewers' life stress avoiding disaster. I believe this may be why the American public is reactionary and motivated by fear instead of positive and peaceful forces."
John is currently writing a novel "The Popes of Avignon" and is a watercolorist has exhibited at Lafayette Studios in Lafayette, CA and at MDUUC in Walnut Creek, CA.
