Johannes Smith was born in 1974 in Hamar, Norway.

He lived in Drammen from 1976 to 1994, followed by a year in Lillehammer and two years in Oslo, before moving to London in 1997. He holds a first class BA(Hons) degree in Information Design from Westminster University, and is a founding partner of London based interactive agency Hugo & Cat.
