- b 1873; s of late Sir J. Balfour Paul, KCVO; m 1908, Muriel Cassells Monteith, MBE 1939; three s. Educ: Sedbergh. Work: Was tea-planting in Ceylon; Lieut-Colonel Ceylon Mounted Rifles (Res.); member of Queen's Bodyguard for Scotland (Royal Company of Archers); served in S. African War lost arm (Queen's medal 6 clasps); European War (DSO); Falkland Pursuivant, 1927-39; OStJ; Colonial Aux. Service Decoration; Jubilee and Coronation Medals, 1937, and; 1953 Defence Medal. VL Midlothian, 1951; County Commissioner, Boy Scouts, Midlothian, since 1930. Order of Polonia Restituta. Address: 14 Belgrave Crescent, Edinburgh, 4. Club: New (Edinburgh).
