Talk:John Waterbury

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

One of the main dilemmas of this time of the New World Order's progress is the fact that the destinies of workers are put completely into the hands of employers, and here the only bet is that you have a respectable hiring institution (which is rare indeed) or a boss who has the least degree of ethics (which isn't frequent at all). This was shown very clearly in the objection of the students, workers, and the educated people in France, of the CPE.

In Lebanon, where Dr. Waterbury is the current president of AUB, graduates and youth in general are faced with so much difficulties in order to find a job. This is the reason why hundreds of thousands of them left Lebanon since 1992! The population of Lebanon comes somewhere near 4 millions.

And, well, this is written for nothing but to say that it seems that the current AUB president John Waterbury isn't profoundly interested if an AUB graduate was subject to "Arbitrary Dismissal", at AUB! This happened last year (2005) when an employee was hired at AUB, which was the reason for him to quit his previous secure job in a bank. He was promised that the contract will be renewed each year, at the job interview, by the rude boss who ended his contract. This boss was called "a control freak" by many of the employees there. Mr. Waterbury was addressed for this matter, but he provided no reply... which gives quite a good idea about the real interests and maybe "the real roles" of the current AUB administration. The act was very flagrant, and this had no consequent reaction from the AUB administration. The AUB graduate now is working for less than 400 $ a month, in a non-stable IT company, and with a hard-to-explain gap of several months in his CV.

Take a look at how injustice spreads all over the world, and unethical sick bosses fire employees, after calling for them and giving them incentives in the interviews! And take another look at how institutions that call themselves educational are run... in this case by Mr. Waterbury.

I will dedicate a website which explains the full details of this incident from A to Z in the coming weeks.
