[edit] Astaire's tribute to Bubbles/Robinson

From John Mueller: Astaire Dancing - The Musical Films of Fred Astaire, Hamish Hamilton, London, 1986, ISBN 0-241-11749-6 pp 108,109 "If there is a black reference, it is not Robinson but, rather, the Porgy and Bess character Sportin' Life, a role Bubbles had created on the stage the year before. The flashy sport jacket and bowler Astaire wears certainly suggest that character more than Robinson, who was usually dressed with conservative elegance."

and

"In style Astaire is far closer to Bubbles than to Robinson."
