From everything I can find, this is incorrect about how he became the first Bengal. Stofa was apparently traded from the Bengals to the Dolphins in 1967, prior to the 'veternan draft'. [1]among others. Niteowlneils 06:25, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

According to the Bengals Calendar. John Stofa was traded to the Bengals from the Dolphins for a pair of draft choices in December, 1967. This was nine months before the Bengals played there first game.
