Talk:John Rook

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John Rook is probably among the top 10 most influential programmers of top 40 radio stations during their heyday in the 1960s largely due to his most notable local program director position-- shaping the sound of WLS, a 50,000 watt AM station in Chicago which impacted legions of teens and would be broadcasters including Rush Limbaugh (who idolized Larry Lujack who worked for John Rook-- those who recall Lujack's delivery on WLS will hear it in evidence in Rush's pacing and inflection-- something Rush has admitted publicly). Many musical acts can cite his adding them to WLS' music rotation as a big part of their chart success. I believe the previous article was more like a short bio of Rook which did not fit the criteria more in terms of how it was written than a debate on his accomplishments. I would challenge anyone who is aware of radio's top 40 history to argue that Rook should not be included.Ningueme (talk) 10:32, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
