Rest in Peace, Richard... From all those who enjoyed Countdown, but couldn't get more than 4 letters!

[edit] Birthplace
According to The Guardian he was born in Eccleshill, we have it as Baildon? -- Joolz 14:23, 13 July 2005 (UTC)
- I have seen other sources, including Channel 4, say Baildon was his birthplace, although most just say Bradford. The Yorkshire Post obit says he was brought up in Baildon. The original Guardian report (to which your linked article is an erratum) says that that he was born in north Yorkshire (without specifying where), and that the family mill was in Eccleshill. The correction seems to (incorrectly, I believe) assume that his "birthplace and home" was Eccleshill. The best place to check would be his autobiography, I suppose. -- ALoan (Talk) 20:34, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
What a great man this person was. So gentle, so *diplomatic*. I cannot believe he died so many years ago. --82.3.89.174 (talk) 06:54, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
