[edit] Early inaccurate accounts

Some acounts of Major Pitcairn in 19th century American literature are known to be inaccurate. He is reported to have been shot by Salem Poor (a black volunteer), and to have been the first to storm the American fortified position. The latter disagrees with contemporary British accounts of the battle. For a discussion of the Salem Poor claim, see the talk page at Talk:Battle of Bunker Hill. Lou I 22:45, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] no known image?

the new england historic and genealogical society has an image of john pitcairn... a simple google image search turns it up on pbs.com, and it's also in reputable historical texts (Paul Revere's Ride, by David Hackett Fischer, p. 191). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.243.103.11 (talk) 05:08, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
