[edit] Charles Johnson

The Spotlight fellows did a great job, thanks to everyone. Only thing I changed was to re-identify Daniel DeFoe as Charles Johnson. According to David Cordingly, Under the Black Flag, the long-standing belief that Charles Johnson was a pseudonym for DeFoe has been refuted, though Johnson's actual identity remains mysterious.
