Talk:John F. Allen (physicist)

A better title might be John F. Allen (physicist) as there are several John Allens who are physicists. Jaraalbe 19:13, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

In 1997/98 I had the pleasure to be one of his students, Quantum Field Theory IIRC, he seemed to have a fixation on the word "recapitulation". His appearance was that of a schoolchild drawing god, indeed amongst the undergraduates at the time he was known as "god". It wasn't until preparing a talk on modelling the early universe using superfluids that I came across his work and still a little while later that I learnt that this was the great man ... I gather that the Physics and Astronomy building on the North Haugh at St.Andrews Uni now bears his name. Pbhj (talk) 03:02, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
