I am objecting to the copyright violation tag on this article. This was drawn from a 1928 book that has been placed on line with no copyright notice. The posting seems to be maintained by a local historical society that, like me, is interested in making its local history available. I believe I am helping them by putting their local history into Wikipedia, and referencing their site, so that anybody that uses Wikipedia to find this stuff will quickly get basic info and a reference to the local history site.
- This does not seem to be good enough; Public_domain says 1923 is the cutof date for when you can be sure. It is no longer required that copyright notices are added when published for a work to retain its copyright, so that argument is not good enough either. Thue | talk 22:19, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
I suppose I ought to mention that I'm a copyright lawyer. The 1923 date is sort of an absolute: the copyright would have had to have been renewed. Anyway, the source has pulled the referene off line, so maybe there is a problem. I've rewritten the article.M dorothy
