I've added what I could from the Adicks' edition of Le Conte's Report on East Florida. I'll look for more sources. I think it's pretty clear that the family name is Le Conte, not LeConte. Adick's book uses Le Conte, Joseph Le Conte's autobiography has Le Conte on the title page, most of the geographical features in the U.S. named for members of the family are spelled Le Conte, according to the USGS, and it's Le Conte's Thrasher and Le Conte's Sparrow. While other sources have LeConte or Leconte, these spellings seem to be later corruptions. -- Donald Albury (Dalbury)(Talk) 19:23, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
